ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - A man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing a fire hydrant from downtown Ardmore two weeks ago.

Thomas Day, 44, is charged with grand larceny.

Ardmore Police Capt. Claude Henry said the fire hydrant was broken and laying sideways on the ground when Day picked it up and brought it home.

“The next day, we were able to gather information from a citizen who stated they had seen the missing fire hydrant in the backyard of a residence,” said Henry.

Day asked police if he was being questioned about the fire hydrant before telling them he did not know about it.

Police arrested Day after finding the hydrant in his backyard.
