WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (KXII) - An animal welfare investigation is ongoing in Garvin County after the sheriff’s office received multiple calls about G.W. Zoo’s exotic animals.

Multiple agencies were called in after photos of a juvenile lion with blackened ears and flies were shared on social media.

Sheriff Jim Mullet says the USDA inspected the park earlier in the week and took the lion to get veterinary care. It is in isolation and being monitored.

”The USDA just got done with one of their inspections, and most likely we’re going to continue the investigation and we’re going to put things together in the end,” Mullet said.

Mullet says more information will be released after the investigation.
