SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Legendary punter Hunter Smith got his kicks and a lot more during his time with the Sherman Bearcats.

During the early to mid-1990′s, Smith was a “do it all” player for the Bearcats. He often lined up at tight end, receiver, and even quarterback, before becoming an NFL punter.

Smith made his living as a punter at the highest level. After a great college career at Notre Dame, Smith was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, where he won a Super Bowl. He would later play for the Washington Redskins and had a tremendous 12 year NFL career.

Smith would later launch a successful Christian music career. It all began at Bearcat Stadium, where he was twice named all-state. He also played basketball and ran track for the Bearcats.
