SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) -

After speculation over safety concerns the city of Denison held their annual Fourth of July concert and fireworks show Saturday at Munson Stadium.

The stadium opened at 7 p.m. for a live two hour concert from the local band Rocky and the Bullwinkles.

Seats in the bleachers were clearly marks for social distancing, with seating only available in every other row.

“We’ve taken other precautions to make sure they social distance, we have signs and things like that,” said Mainstreet Director Donna Dow.

But even with all the safety precautions in place, Dow said they were only expecting a fraction of the crowd they usually draw for the Fourth.

“Everyone has a different opinion on how they’re going to treat this but we just want them to be respectful of one another,” Dow said.

Dow said she was happy to put on the show but wanted to make sure the rules were clear: no mask, no fireworks.
