SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - The Ella Mae Brown Crisis Center in Sherman is one of 22 domestic violence agencies in Texas awarded with a grant to fund the changing pandemic environment.

the $9,000 grant from the Texas Council on Family Violence will help the center adapt their services as needed.

Since the pandemic, most employees at the crisis center work from home and restrictions on the number of clients allowed in the shelter were put in place.

Matt Brown, a board member for the crisis center, says it will make a difference in how they serve the community.

”It’ll allow us to do some things in the Crisis center, also work with, as we’re in the pandemic, do some online training and things like that,” Brown said.

He says the grant will especially help with funding since they have had to close the doors of their thrift store.
