SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Sherman City Council voted on Monday to change regulations at the Sherman Municipal Airport to allow access to a proposed residential development geared toward pilots.

The change will allow for through-the-fence operations, meaning the development would be located off of airport property, but still have access to the airport’s runway and taxiway system.

City officials say they have worked closely with the Texas Department of Transportation to ensure they are following their rules and regulations.

Officials say the proposed developer is looking to build on land west of the airport.
