Sports 12 Rewind Legends: Brian Odom
(KXII) - The Ada Cougars had a lot of great players in the 1990′s, but maybe none more productive than running back Brian Odom.
Odom rushed for almost 2500 yards and 40 touchdowns his senior year. He set the school records for rushing, scoring and total offense that season. He also returned a punt for a score, threw 2 TD passes, was named all-state and was named “Player of the Year” by the Tulsa World.
Odom was a starter as a freshman on the 1996 state championship team. During his junior year he Odom played quarterback. Odom played along side a couple of other Ada legends, Jeremy Shockey and Dan Cody.
Odom would play at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a key special teams player and a member of the 2000 Sooners championship team. He later transferred to Southeastern, where he would get a chance to be the primary running back again.
Odom would then go into coaching. He is now the inside linebackers coach at Oklahoma as a part of Lincoln Riley’s staff. He coached at Missouri, Washington State, Houston and Arizona.
