(KXII) - After months of speculation, the UIL announced there will be fall sports, including football in 2020. For schools that are class 4A-1A, the season will start as planned with practice starting August 3rd, and games beginning August 31st.

As for class 5A and 6A schools, they’re seasons will be delayed five weeks. Practice will begin September 7th, with games kicking off September 24th. Texoma is home to just two 5A schools, Sherman and Denison. Both will be allowed to play a full season, which means the rivalry of the “Battle of the Axe” is still on to be played week one.

The UIL also made a few changes when it comes to spectators. Fans will be allowed to watch the games, but the stadium can only allow 50% capacity. Anyone inside the stadium over the age of ten must wear a mask.
