HUGO, Okla. (KXII) - The Hugo Public School district is canceling football practice after two coaches tested positive for COVID-19.

Superintendent Earl Dalke says football practice and weightlifting are shut down for the time being. Dalke did not say when practices would start back up.

The Choctaw County Health Department is conducting contact tracing to contain the spread.

Hugo Public Schools are scheduled to begin classes Aug. 10. The district released its reopening plans earlier this month.

As of Friday, 132 Hugo residents have tested positive for COVID-19, with 160 total cases in the county. One patient has died and 151 have recovered.
