DENISON, Texas (KXII) - Denison police say they arrested a man who ran from police and assaulted an officer.

Police say they stopped Isaiah Patterson, 24, in the 6400 block of Texoma Parkway and detained him to search his car for drugs.

Officers say when they tried to put him into a police vehicle, Patterson broke away from officers and fled on foot across Texoma Parkway.

Once they caught up with Patterson, officers say he kicked one of them and tried to grab a gun.

Patterson is being held in the Grayson County Jail on charges of evading arrest/detention, resisting arrest/detention, assault on a police officer, obstruction/retaliation, narcotic charges and attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer.
