POTTSBORO, Texas (KXII) - The Pottsboro Cardinals were a juggernaut in 2019. Now, they are looking to take it one more step in 2020.

The Cardinals went 15-0 marching into the Class 3A Division I state championship game. They came up just one win short of taking home the school’s first state title.

Despite losing many key players to graduation, several of the key contributors are back and lead the way for the team picked to win their district.

“They have a little bit of confidence,” head coach Matt Poe said. “I don’t want to say they are cocky or overconfident but just to have a little confident swagger is what we need”.

“Our goal every year is to win a district championship,” Poe said. “Then after that, we want to play in December, and if you play in December, you’ve done something special”.
