Calera schools delaying start date
CALERA, Okla. (KXII) - Students at Calera Public Schools will get an extra weekend before returning to class.
Superintendent Gerald Parks says they have pushed the first day of school back from Thursday, Aug. 13 to Monday, Aug. 17.
Parks says they are moving the start date to give students and teachers more time to prepare while they wait for sanitation equipment to be delivered to campus.
“As always our primary concern is that we offer the safest and most effective school environment possible,” Parks said in a written statement.
Parks says they will offer updates and announcements on the district’s website.
