WHITEWRIGHT, Texas (KXII) - The Whitewright Tigers are coming off a strong season in which they made it to the playoffs in the first year of the Kevin Wiggins era.
The new coach was able to get his message across and he has this team ready to take another step this season.
“I think us getting to the playoffs in our first year was really helpful for the program,” Wiggins said. “It helped solidify the message and the things we were trying to teach our guys. It also had some buy-in that, you know what? This does work. These guys do know what they are talking about.”
That confidence should serve this team well as they head into a loaded district that includes defending state champion Gunter along with Bells, Blue Ridge, Leonard and S&S. All are viable playoff contenders and Whitewright will have to play well if they are to get back to the post-season.
“We have to continue to grow,” Wiggins said. “If we can have the learning curve in our second season then I think we’ll be a team to be reckoned with.”
