MADILL, Okla. (KXII) - Construction on the Willis Bridge is nearing its halfway point after the project started last summer.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation engineer Anthony Echelle says people can expect the final touches to be completed by spring of 2022.

Along with ODOT, the Texas Department of Transportation is also a part of the $44 million project.

Echelle says after the foundations get laid down, people can expect the project to speed up.

”Once the contractor gets out of the deep water stage the work will get progress much quicker,” Echelle said.

Echelle says the bridge will only be two lanes, but it will be wider with 10-foot shoulders on each side.
