COOKE COUNTY, Texas (KXII) - Cooke County Judge Jason Brinkley is telling people to pay attention if you got a letter saying your personal information could have been compromised.

The Cooke County Sheriff’s Office was hit with a ransomware attack in early July compromising some personal information.

The attack demanded the sheriff’s office pay or they would publicly post case documents going back at least six years.

Judge Brinkley wants people to know the letter is real, and encourages them to follow safety measures laid out in the letter.
