SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A Gunter woman was fatally struck Wednesday morning when a semi veered off U.S. Highway 75 in Sherman into a business parking lot.

Police said a northbound semi left the highway, crossed the frontage road, and hit a person and three parked vehicles in the Angels of Care parking lot just before 9 a.m.

Police said the person hit, Leslie Karen Mercado, 23, of Gunter, was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

No one else was injured.

The northbound frontage road remains blocked off, and northbound 75 is down to one lane.

Northbound 75 traffic is moving through slowly, as of 11 a.m.

Police said the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
