LINDSAY, Texas (KXII) - The Lindsay Knights, and long playoff runs just seem to go hand in hand. In 2019, Lindsay made it to the third round of the post season. In 2017, they played in the fifth round. Now in 2021, they are gearing up for round number four.

Consistency has been key for the knights, going 26-5 this season, with playoff wins over Petrolia, Trenton, and Alvord. They’ve come a long way this year, but don’t plan on stopping now.

“Just getting here has been a blessing,” said Lindsay first baseman Jack Popp. “This is the farthest I’ve ever been in my baseball career, or really any career. Ready to go, we stay ready, but also very excited.”

“I couldn’t say I thought we would be here right now. But as the season got going, watching us play, watching what we did, I thought we had a chance mid-season,” said Lindsay head coach Derrick Jenkins “We had a couple bumps in the road with Muenster and Alvord in district, but after those two games, we really picked it up and played well.”

When you look at the box scores, it’s pretty clear to see why they have seen so much success in the post season. In the first three rounds, they have scored at least six runs a game. On the defensive side, they’ve only allowed a total of three runs in the playoffs.

“I think our pitching is really good, our defense,” said Lindsay designated hitter Walker Turbeville. “We don’t make mistakes. If we do, then we just bounce back.”

“Pitching and defense is probably what we do best,” said Jenkins. “The guys we have on the mound have thrown well all year. I think we’ve only walked 4 batters on the whole season. When you do those things, play defense, it’s easy to be in a spot like this.”

Lindsay will begin their regional semi-final series against Crawford on Thursday, in a best of three series in Brock.
