LINDSAY, Texas (KXII) - The Lindsay Knights baseball team is headed to the regional final for the first time since 2017. The Knights have never qualified for the state tournament before, and now, just a one game region final stands in their way.

“When you get to this point, if you think there’s not pressure, then you’ve kind of failed a little bit,” said head coach Derrick Jenkins. “We know there’s a lot on the line. We talked today, and one of them said to lose in the first round feels bad, but to lose the game before state would be rough. They know, but pressure is okay. You want that at this point.”

“We’ve already had 3 1-game series in the first four rounds,” said Lindsay short stop Tyler Yancey. “We’re used to the pressure, we’re used to it being exciting. A lot of nerves built up, but we know how to control it.”

“It definitely adds pressure, but we’re used to it,” said Lindsay pitcher Colton Popp. “The whole first 3 rounds were 1 games. So we’re used to it.”

Lindsay will play Bosqueville Thursday at L.D. Bell High School at 7:00 with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
