Aggravated kidnapping suspect caught in Sherman
SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A Joplin, Missouri woman is free Thursday morning after she told Sherman police her boyfriend kidnapped her at gunpoint and started driving across state lines.
She made her escape at a Sherman gas station early Thursday morning.
“On June 3rd this morning at approximately 12:20 a.m. the Sherman Police Department received a call from a female adult victim stating that she is being held against her will,” Lt. Jeremy Cox said.
Lt. Cox with the Sherman Police department says 39 year old Cilrestor Riddley, assaulted and was holding an adult female hostage for two days as they traveled across three states in a corvette.
“During that time she had been assaulted and threatened with a firearm but she was at the Shell station was able to make a phone call. Patrol immediately responded and got there and detained the suspect,” Lt. Cox said.
The victim told police she was living with Riddley as they were in an intimate relationship together but wanted to get out.
Ridley kidnapped her where the couple lived in Joplin, Missouri, before they crossed into Oklahoma, and once they reached Sherman, she was able to get out of the car and call 911 at the Shell station off Highway 75 and 1417.
“We are still conducting a search for possible pieces of evidence that may have been disposed of by the suspect,” Lt. Cox said.
Riddley did time in prison in Kansas for burglary and is now currently facing aggravated kidnapping charges, he is now being held in the Grayson County Jail.
Sherman Police say they are working with both Joplin Police Department and the FBI in this case since it crossed state lines.
