POTTSBORO, Texas (KXII) - Paxton Trojacek, 12, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May but he hasn’t let it get in the way of all loves to do in life.

“It hasn’t been too bad for me, for other kids it’s been a lot worse,” said Trojacek. “I’m pretty confident that I can beat it.”

Trojacek is battling stage two of the disease, which is a cancer of the lymphnodes, but he said to this point it has not been much of a burden.

“Whenever you’re in the hospital and they start flushing you with stuff that’s the only time you ever feel anything,” Trojacek said.

Trojacek has his last treatment set for next month and he hopes to put the disease behind him once and for all.

A family-friend of the Trojacek’s, Holley Murphy, organized a fundraiser at The Rig in Denison on Friday June 11 featuring several local musicians, a $10 raffle featuring a Benelli shotgun, two AR-15′s, a fishing trip and more. All tips and donations will go towards Trojacek’s treatments.

“It’s about them,” Murphy said. “We want them to know your community is behind you.”

Kylie Trojacek, Paxton’s mother, said one day he had mentioned to her that he had big knots under in his neck under his jawbone and that’s when she took him in for the diagnosis.

Trojacek battling her son’s illness by his side has been a struggle but Paxton’s determination to keep fighting has kept her spirits up.

“This is a kid that never got sick and now he has cancer,” Trojacek said. “With his attitude and being head strong it has really helped us all get through this.”

She said both her and Paxton’s attitude is to “win” against this disease.

“We’re trying to raise as much money as we can,” Trojacek said. “But prayers is the main thing we need.”

If all goes as planned Paxton’s last treatment is scheduled for July 20th.

They said anyone is welcome to come out to the fundraiser Friday.

The family is trying to raise as much money as they can for Paxton’s treatment.
