SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - This week’s A+ Athlete is T’a nne Boyd of Texoma Christian School.

T’a nne is a member of National Honors Society and the Rotary Youth Leadership. She is on the distinguished scholar plan at TCS and has won the education and development award. She is very involved with her community through the Women’s Crisis Center, Texoma Community Center, and Texoma Family Shelter. She is an Upward basketball referee and has served on mission trips. She is super involved in everything and keeps a very busy schedule.

“Getting my work done ahead of time so I can focus on the game and not worry about what I have to do after,” Boyd said. “To go home, shower, do homework. I just make sure I communicate with my teachers and make sure I get everything done.”

“She’s very responsible,” biology teacher Melinda Jackson said. “She always turns in her assignments on time. She’s very detailed in everything she does, making sure she gives her very best.”

On the court, T’a nne does it all. She has been named first team all-state in basketball twice and has been named offensive player of the year. She has helped lead TCS deep into the post-season in hoops. She is also an all-district volleyball player, and a state finalist in the long jump in track and field. She also plays a key role on the softball team. This A+ Athlete believes that confidence is key in all that you do.

“The main thing, basketball especially, teaches you is that have to believe in yourself and good things will come,” Boyd said.

“I have seen it from day one as a freshman she started on varsity,” girls basketball coach Mark Ellison said. “She’s been going ever since. She likes to win. She is very upset when she doesn’t win. It’s been a great four years with her here at Texoma Christian School.”
