A+ Athlete: Jayden Weiberg, Madill
MADILL, Okla. (KXII) - This week’s A+ Athlete is Jayden Weiberg of Madill High School.
Jayden is a straight A student. She carries a 4.36 grade point average. She’s a member of National Honors Society, FCA and is the Vice President of her class. She is very involved in her church, including serving in the nursery. Everything Jayden does, she does well. And she understands the importance of strong academics.
“With academics, there are so many opportunities that can come from having a good education,” Weiberg said. “I look at that as motivation to do well in the classroom and to exceed and do the best that I can to make good grades. I know all that hard work will pay off eventually.”
“Jayden is the epitome of what we want our students to be at Madill High School,” Madill English teacher Molly Raley said. “She is talented, smart, and friendly. I don’t know if we can have a better student representative at Madill High School than Jayden.”
On the court, Jayden is one of the best basketball players in the area. And you would be hard pressed to find a better shooter. She has been named to several all-tournament teams and has secured a scholarship to play college basketball at East Central. She has scored over a thousand points and holds the Madill record for three pointers made. Basketball is a huge part of Jayden’s high school experience.
“I have learned so much from basketball,” Weiberg said. “I have learned leadership skills, communication skills, discipline and work ethic. I think all of that is so much more than the sport.”
“She is a great player,” Madill girls basketball coach Shawn Runyan said. “She’s a very good teammate and an even better person. After our last game at Tuttle, I let the seniors speak. The first thing she did was to thank all the girls. She thanked all her teammates that helped her get her success. That says something for a girl that is 17 or 18 years old that has her accolades.”
