Talk of the Town: “The 1965 Texas Coed Murders: We Saw What You Did”
SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Sherman native and author Alan Burton joined Caroline on Talk of the Town to discuss his new book.
Titled “The 1965 Texas Coed Murders: We Saw What You Did,” the book revisits the murders of UT Austin students Susan Rigsby and Shirley Ann Stark.
According to Burton, the killings were followed closely by Texans and covered extensively by the press, being voted the number one news story that year in Texas by both the Associated Press and United Press International.
“It’s a historical case now-- it was big news 61 years ago-- and now it’s been sort of been forgotten,” Burton says.
“I think it’s also important that we don’t forget the victims.”
The book is available for purchase at bookstores and online booksellers nationwide and on Burton’s website.
Burton will also be hosting a book signing at the Barnes & Noble located in the Prestwood Center in Dallas on June 27 from 1:00 to 3 p.m.
