Weekend Meteorologist
Brian Briggs

Brian Briggs is the Weekend Meteorologist at News 12. He is originally from San Diego, CA, a location known for its beautiful weather. Ironically enough, Brian used to be terrified of lightning and thunder at a young age. This fear quickly turned into a fascination and when the rare opportunity for storms rolled into Southern California, Brian wasted no time chasing and observing these storms.

Brian was able to develop a fascination with lightning in particular, as his father (who was a Meteorologist in the United States Navy) would take him deeper into the Desert Southwest during monsoon season in the summer. His fascination for storms only continued to blossom from there.

Shortly after high school, Brian decided to develop his weather skills further at the University of Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, as well as minors in Mathematics and Broadcast Meteorology. The university helped to develop his knowledge of severe weather not only in the classroom, but in the field as well, as he would often observe the wide variety of storms systems that would roll through Oklahoma and surrounding states.

Shortly after college, Brian headed down south and became the Weekend Meteorologist/Weekday reporter at KTVE/KARD in West Monroe, LA. His 3 years there were nothing short of wild; he experienced countless numbers of tornado and severe weather events, two historic tropical systems that moved through Northeast Louisiana (Hurricane Laura and Tropical Storm Delta, both occurring within 2 months of each other), as well as a historic ice storm and everything in between. He is no stranger to covering significant and impactful weather.

Now, Brian is able to call Texoma home. During his off time, he likes to do everything from being outside enjoying nature, to singing, to nerding out over the latest weather data. He also enjoys spending time with family, as they now reside in Dallas and throughout much of the state of Texas. He is very excited and honored to be a part of the News 12 team and cannot wait to get to know the community!
