Hunter Smith is now a morning news anchor for KXII. He previously served in the station's award-winning sports department and made the jump to news in July 2022.
Hunter joined the KXII sports team in May 2021 after spending two years working as a sportscaster at WBKO in Bowling Green, Kentucky. During his time in the Bluegrass state Hunter had the opportunity to cover Western Kentucky University Athletics and the local high schools of south central Kentucky. Hunter has covered everything from bowl games to state championships. He was on the field during the Hilltoppers' 2019 victory in the First Responder Bowl as well as their 45-19 beat down against Arkansas that same season. Hunter was even attending the Conference USA Basketball Tournament when the COVID-19 pandemic caused the sports world to stop turning.
Hunter is a native Texan growing up in the New Braunfels/San Antonio area. He graduated from TCU in May of 2018. While in school, he interned with the Dallas Cowboys, along with Fox Sports Southwest (now known as Bally Sports).
Hunter is excited to be back in the lone star state where football is king and the lights shine brightest on a Friday night.
