1 killed, 2 injured after crash in Pontotoc Co.

ASHER, Okla. (KXII) - A man is dead and two others injured after a crash near Ada Thursday afternoon.

Troopers say it happened near Asher at the junction of U.S. Highway 177 and State Highway 3 West around 12:35 p.m.

They 45-year-old stephen La Pointe was driving northbound on SH 3 when he crossed over the center lane, sideswiping a semi before colliding with another pickup head-on.

La Pointe was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver and passenger of the pickup, 54-year-old Randall Recher and 53-year-old Velma Recher, were pinned for around an hour before being flown to an oklahoma city hospital for multiple injuries.

The driver of the semi, 32-year-old James Ramey, was not injured.
