ECU baseball player killed, Durant woman seriously hurt in crash near Ada

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - A 19-year-old East Central University baseball player was killed and a 43-year-old woman from Durant was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Pontotoc County Sunday afternoon.

Troopers said it happened around 4:20 p.m. on State Highway 3W about 15 miles northwest of Ada.

According to the trooper's report, Roman "Bo" Duren, Jr. of Jones, Oklahoma, crossed his Ford Mustang left of center and hit Samantha Manning's Chevy Tahoe head-on.

Duren was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a news release from East Central University, Duren was a freshman on the baseball team and was returning to campus when the crash occurred.

Manning was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital where she was admitted in serious condition.

A 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Tahoe was treated and released from an Oklahoma City hospital.

Troopers say they are still investigating what caused the collision.
