The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says defective brakes caused a crash that sent three people to the hospital in Pontotoc County Tuesday night.

Troopers say Jace Lindsey, 19, failed to yield at a stop sign at County Road 1700 and U.S. Highway 377 near Fittstown because his brakes failed.

They say Lindsay attempted to turn onto the southbound lane of U.S. 377 when his pickup crossed the center line and hit another pickup head-on.

The driver and passenger of the second pickup were flown to an Oklahoma City hospital in serious condition after being pinned for more than 30 minutes.

Lindsay was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
