Friday marks 20 years since one of the largest, most destructive tornado outbreaks in Oklahoma history.

On May 3, 1999, 40 people died from 72 tornadoes that destroyed 3,300 hones.

That includes the devastating Bridge Creek/Moore/Del City tornado, which at one point was a mile and half wide. The tornado caused $1 billion worth of damage.

Of the many twisters that formed that day, the strongest was an EF-5 that developed near Chickasha.

In the town of Mulhall, 80 percent of the town was destroyed.
