4-year-old drowns at Lake Murray

LOVE COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - The Love County Sheriff's Office says a 4-year-old from Oklahoma City has died after going under the water at Lake Murray Saturday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the boy was jumping into the water with his cousins around 1 p.m.

They say when he resurfaced he was not breathing and unconscious.

Family members performed CPR until a park ranger arrived.

The child was taken to Mercy Hospital in Ardmore where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers say the child was not wearing a life jacket.

The child is the fourth person to drown in Texoma during the holiday week.

June 29 34-year-old Stephen Maxwell of Ardmore drowned at Lake Murray after jumping off a boat and struggling to swim. His body was recovered sunday morning near Group Camp 2.

July 3 a 27-year-old woman from India drowned at Turner Falls after she and three others fell into a no-swimming area in the main pool by the waterfall.

July 5 a middle aged man from India also drowned at Turner Falls after slipping off a walkway into the Blue Hole Pool.
