The Texoma Council of Governments hosted distribution day Thursday for the seventh annual Share the Warmth Coat Drive.

The event was held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This year, the event collected about 800 coats. Only a couple hundred were left by the afternoon.

Area veterans were given first access to the free coats.

"We identify this as a really good opportunity for us to not only reach out to the volunteering and contributed spirit within the region, but also be able to address a fairly prolific need in the region. That is to make sure that people have access to a warm coat during those winter months," said TCOG Executive Director Eric Bridges.

TCOG says they are looking forward to making the event bigger and better in 2020.
