Ada schools closed after threat against teacher, school

ADA, Okla. (KXII) - Ada City Schools were canceled Thursday after a threat was made against a teacher.

The Ada Police Department arrested Gerard Williams Thursday afternoon for threatening or planning a violent act.

Police say Gerard sent text messages to his wife, a teacher in the district, threatening her and the schools.

Court records say the teacher told police Gerard wanted to create a scene forcing officers into a suicide-by-cop situation.

Police say the teacher was concerned for her and her student's safety. She sent the message to the Director of Ada City Schools who called police.

A report says the messages stated "Guess what your so important in the community huh. Guess ignorance can go down at the elementary! 12 hours."

Parents were told Wednesday night schools would be closed due to a threat against the district.

Ada school officials say all schools in the district will be open Friday.
