Anna shooting suspect caught, arrested in Kansas City

ANNA, Tex. (KXII) - Anna Police have arrested the suspect in a shooting early Thursday morning.

Police said Benito Gutierrez, 20, was located and apprehended without incident hours later in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to Anna PD, shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday, they responded to a report of a man who had been shot near the intersection of Chapel Hill Drive and Cedar Canyon Drive in the Avery Pointe subdivision.

The Anna Police Department says when officers arrived, a victim, later identified as Gavin Brady, 23, of Anna, was found lying on the ground outside his vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Police say Brady was taken to a McKinney hospital where he underwent surgery and has been upgraded from critical to good condition.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Gutierrez for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say they are still investigating what led up to the shooting.
