ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Friday the Ardmore Animal Care (animal shelter) took steps to finding dogs and cats a new home by lowering the traditional fee of $50 for dogs and $40 for cats to only $5 for both.

The Ardmore Animal Care Shelter lower it's adoption fees on their 'Bark' Friday event.

"We're having our annual Black Friday sale. We refer to it as 'Bark Friday.' We're having $5 discounted adoptions on all of our dogs and cats,” said Supervisor Amanda Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie said the special is one day only, and said they started of 125 animals in the shelter which is at capacity with 100.

"We do usually see a higher number in adoptions by now, but it's still, y'know, 15 animals that's gotten out of here and gotten into a home for the holidays. So, we're grateful for that,” said Dinwiddie.

The Hartley family of Mill Creek went into shelter Friday while shopping in Ardmore, and left with a new three legged friend.

“He gets around pretty good, we’re probably going to call him Hop,” said Clint Hartley. "We just came here to look at dogs and we asked how much it was to adopt, and we were thinking it was $50 bucks and they were like, 'No, it's Black Friday it's $5 for cats and dogs."

Dinwiddie said people are still welcome to adopt this holiday, and people can keep an eye on the Ardmore Animal Care’s social media for other specials to come.
