Ardmore Parks and Recreation prepare for 22nd annual Chigger Chase

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - The Ardmore Parks and Recreation department is getting ready to host their 22nd annual Chigger Chase run tomorrow.

The annual run will take place at the Ardmore Regional Park.

Four different runs will offered for families to participate in and the first one will start at 4 p.m.

Director of Parks and Recreation, Teresa Ervin, says this year they are expecting over 800 participants.

Ervin tells us all proceeds collected from the race will go towards the Regional Park Authority and the local family shelter.

The run will also kick off the start of the Festival of Lights, one of the largest displays of Christmas lights in Oklahoma, Ervin says.

"It's a family tradition. We have people that do it every year - we have people that have done it for the 22 years and they wouldn't miss it," Ervin said, "even if they can't make it for whatever reason, they sign up to get that shirt."

And Ervin says it's not too late to register to participate.

She says they will be accepting participants up until the race begins.
