The Carter County Court Clerk's Office also announced new hours and changes effective Monday.
"Beginning Monday, June 1st The Courthouse will have new hours," a Facebook post read. "Although you will not be able to enter the Courthouse until 9am, the Court Clerk's Office will keep normal hours of 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday and be available by phone. Any questions please call 580-223-5253."
Another Facebook post addressed changes effective Monday.
"Monday June 1st the Courthouse will begin slowly allowing more of the public to enter. For attorney's, their staff, anyone that has a court hearing (sorry family & friends will have to stay outside) the rules will remain the same! Land men, small claims filings, marriage license, background checks just to name a few things will be allowed in with exceptions. The deputy will have a list of people that have daily business in the courthouse. If you are not on that list you will need to call the Court Clerks Office, myself or one of my deputies will meet you downstairs to address your needs. Everyone who enters the courthouse Must wear a mask (we do not provide them) & have your temperature checked (anyone with temp over 99.9 will not be allowed to enter). Anyone needing to make payments are still encouraged to pay online, over the phone or through the mail! During this pandemic we will not be taking cash! We now have a drop box inside the west door of the courthouse! (Plans to move outside are in the works) I ask that you continue to be patient with my staff, deputies working at the Courthouse and all other offices. Our first priority is to protect the public and our employees as well as serve the public. Mistakes will likely be made but please know they will not be intentional, we're learning as we go! Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times! Stay safe!! Please call (580)-223-5253 for any questions!!"
The Ardmore Public Library announced it would not reopen Monday as previously planned, but that it would reopen later in the week once an important piece of safety equipment could be installed.
