Man carjacked, robbed at random in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Ok. -- Ardmore police say it started around 8:30 Saturday night in the 300 block of Boyd street, when the victim got into his white Chevy Impala after leaving a family BBQ. That's when 36 year-old Shawn Smith got in the car, too.
"When he got ready to go, he sat down in his vehicle and another suspect jumped in with him," says Ardmore Police Captain Keith Ingle.
Smith didn't have a gun on him, but found the driver's nine millimeter pistol in the car.
"The subject used his own gun against him," says Ingle.
Once Smith had control of the gun, he then forced the man to drive him back to his curent residence, the Motel 6 off Holiday drive, and robbed him.
"He stole his I.D. ... he took the subject's gun and he took the subject's iphone... and all of them were found in the possession of the suspect," says Ingle.
Ingle says the victim got away with only a small cut under his eye.
"He told the guy to not tell anybody or he would... you know, knew where he lived and that sort of thing and pistol whipped him with the gun," says Ingle.
Ingle says someone at the motel saw what was happening and called them, officers arrested Smith on a slew of charges, including kidnapping.
"We'll have kidnapping... assault... for the weapon and also possession of stolen property where he took the 3 subject's items and all 2 of them were found in his possession," says Ingle.
