Ardmore man arrested for child porn

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - An Ardmore man is accused of downloading thousands of files of child pornography.

Timothy Edward Barnett, 45, was arrested Tuesday morning by Carter County sheriff's deputies.

Sheriff Chris Bryant said his office and four other agencies served a search warrant at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of North Commerce St. Tuesday morning.

Bryant said his office and the Internet Crimes Against Children task force had been investigating Barnett for two months on suspicion of possessing child pornography and trying to pinpoint his exact location.

"We actually were able to obtain that and find out exactly where he was living and execute the search warrant this morning," Bryant said.

Officials arrested Barnett at his apartment and found files of graphic child pornography on $10,000 worth of computer equipment.

"They've located approximately 100,000 images right now on his computers," Bryant said.

Bryant said Barnett faces three counts of possessing and distributing child pornography and one count of violating the Internet Crimes Act

There may be more charges to come with the investigation still ongoing.

"We need to protect our children," Bryant said. "We need to protect these young people and we will not tolerate this."
