ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Ardmore police said they were called to a home near the intersection of E Street NW and 3rd Avenue NW after multiple gunshots were fired.
Timothy Brake says he has lived in the neighborhood for two years.
"It was too close to home," Brake said. "I was sound asleep and all of a sudden I heard these two loud bang bangs. I mean, my heart started beating real fast. First thing I thought of, I needed to check on the children. They're my heart. They're my life."
He said he stayed inside his home to check on his three young granddaughters and was reassured when police arrived.
Police say five people were in the house hit when the shooting happened. Luckily, nobody was hurt.
When police got there, a white vehicle drove away from the house and would not pull over.
Officers chased the car for a few minutes to the north side of Ardmore, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles an hour.
Capt. Eric Hamblin said officers arrested 18-year-old Robert Schaumann but police say he was not the one who pulled the trigger.
"It was determined that he was a resident of the house where the shots had occurred and that he was leaving the residence for some reason and didn't want to stop for the police," Hamblin said.
Police said they have not arrested any shooting suspects yet.
"We're following up on leads some leads that we have... and hope we can get some suspects identified," Hamblin said.
Schaumann was booked into the Carter County jail for eluding a police officer.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Ardmore police at 580-223-1212.
