Ardmore students collect cans for local nonprofit

ARDMORe, Okla. (KXII) - Ardmore middle and high school band students collected nearly 1,000 canned goods to donate to a local organization.

Restoring Lives is a nonprofit that helps underprivileged people, and the band classes at the two schools partnered together for the month long drive.

Thursday, kids in the intermediate class found out they raised the most cans in the school collecting almost 300 cans.

A student told KXII she chose to give back because others helped her when she was in need.

"It's nice to give and be generous, and if it weren't for other people giving to us we might not even have half the stuff we have," said Angel Jones.

All the cans will be donated to the children's shelter and put in blessing boxes in the town.
