An arrest has been made in a fatal shooting Wednesday in Ada.

Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian tells us 32-year-old KC Cole has been arrested for manslaughter and shooting with intent to kill.

Christian says Cole got into an argument with 28-year-old Lane Scott yesterday morning on County Road 3536 near Latta High School and shot him several times.

Scott died from his injuries.

Christian said Cole was waiting for deputies when they arrived at the scene and was cooperative with investigators. He was arrested late Wednesday.

An affidavit states Cole and Scott's girlfriend had been arguing for a couple of weeks over her pit bull running loose.

Both told investigators Scott approached him while he was inside his truck.

The two were talking about the dog when Scott punched him, causing Cole to reach for the gun and fire it about 6 times.

A neighbor who didn't want to be identified tells us the housing area they live in has restrictions on animals and weapons.

Cole appeared in Pontotoc County court Thursday morning where he was denied bond.

He is due back later this month.
