SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) A new concert for Sherman was given the green light during Monday night's city council meeting.
They voted to allow a portion of South Crockett Street to be blocked off for the concert, scheduled to take place November 2nd, 2019.
Former Sherman councilman Kevin Couch, now manager of Couch Entertainment, says it will be called 'Let's go back to the 90's,' and it will feature two big-name artists from the decade - Color Me Badd from Oklahoma, and Vanilla Ice from North Texas.
Couch, who says his company will provide the funds, only asked the city to help aid by approving to close off the street and provide additional security from Sherman police and fire.
This isn't the first time Couch has announced plans to bring a big-time artist to the area.
Last year, he said he would bring in country star Dwight Yoakum for a festival honoring Sherman's own Buck Owens.
"it's just a timing thing with the headliners." Couch said. "The Buck Owens Fest is still in my view sight, but I've just got to get this one over with first. But it'll be a great testing grounds for what's to come."
