Black Friday in full swing for one Texoma store

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday in the retail world.

It's the day when consumers flea to the mall or large department stores in hopes of snagging a good deal on hot items, such as electronics and clothing.

Store director at Sherman's Academy Sports and Outdoors Chris Mitchell says Black Friday is the start of their Holiday season.

He says it's one of the busiest times of the year for his team. Friday, the store opened it's doors at 6 a.m.

"When we opened up this morning, we had over 200 people that came in. Lots of people were waiting in their cars because it was raining outside, (when) we opened the doors up, (we) gave out every shopping cart we had, and it was fun from the get go," said Mitchell.

He says every year, they anticipate a larger turn-out than the year before.

Mitchell says Academy will be open until 11 p.m. Black Friday, and will begin their holiday hours the 3rd week of December.
