ADA, Okla. (KXII) -- The Pontotoc County Sheriff's office is saying a body was found during Labor Day weekend on County Road 1590.
"It made me feel kind of nervous to come out here," said Paul Smith.
Paul Smith has been working as a laborer at the ranch for the past week.
On Sunday afternoon, ranch owner Joshua Christian and his son noticed buzzards flying around what he thought might be dead cattle, after checking it out, he made the discovery and called police.
"This is pretty unusual," Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian said. "Usually someone has seen something. When it comes to a resident who goes out and finds a deceased person like that just out in a field ...it's just highly unusual."
Christian says when medical examiners were called to the scene they could not determine the cause of death.
"We cannot rule out foul play, just from all indication at this time, doesn't appear to be," said Christian.
The identity of the person found will be confirmed through the medical examiners at a later date, but Christian, and other workers, say they believe they know who the person is.
"He was a hard worker, pretty friendly," said Smith.
While Police are still searching for answers, Smith says he wants one thing.
"Just everybody keeps prayers for the family," said Smith.
