HUGO, Okla. (KXII) - Hugo police say it was on E 2080 Rd, just feet away from Highway 271 where Jeremy Barnett was found inside a four-door car Monday afternoon with a severe laceration to his neck.
Police say it appeared 34-year-old Barnett was driving the car when someone sitting behind him cut his throat, causing the car to go off the road.
Barnett was pronounced dead at a hospital and the OSBI was called in to investigate.
Investigators say they found evidence that led to the arrest of 30-year-old Greg Gamblin Jr. for first degree murder but they wouldn't elaborate on what that evidence is.
Gamblin was arrested at a Fort Towson house early Tuesday morning.
Online court records show he has a long criminal history, serving time for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, felony driving under the influence and drug possession.
They also show his own father has an active protective order against him.
Gamblin remains in custody after his bond was denied Tuesday.
