DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - People lined Main Street in Denison Saturday for the city's Veterans Day parade.
American flags lined Main Street and patriotic tunes filled the air.
People of all ages came out to say 'thank you' to those who fought for their country.
For Melvin Carruth the parade was especially meaningful.
His father served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Carruth says his three nephews followed their grandfather's footsteps and are currently serving in the military.
"To me the military is the backbone of this country. We're able to do the things we do and live in a free country because of them. There are so many of them that are serving overseas right now and I say a prayer every day for them," Carruth said.
