DWI suspect bites off sergeant's ear

DENTON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A Denton County police officer had part of his ear bitten off while trying to arrest a DWI suspect.

Sergeant Michael Rose attempted to get the suspect, 45-year-old Christopher Rogers, out of a car during a traffic stop, but Rogers resisted.

Rogers began punching one of the officers in the face, continuing to resist until he bit off part of Rose's ear.

Rogers is charged with DWI, resisting arrest, assault on a public servant and aggravated assault.

Officers were not able to recover the 1-inch chunk of ear.
