He’s the first guy you knew. He may have taught you many things. And it’s his day to revel in it. Today’s recipe is overly simplistic, because even the youngest family member can be helping fix breakfast for Dad. You probably already know how to make both French toast and Cinnamon toast, but I’ve got them below. The clever part of today, is how to cut the toast to spell out DAD.
I have given the pictures of the bread cut, and then arranged on the plate, using blueberries to both center the D’s and to cross the A.
Your bonus recipe for the youngest, is to stir together some blueberries with yogurt, to balance for the healthy meal.
Enjoy your day, and hug your Dad. He worked hard for this honor.
Stir together one teaspoon of sugar with 1 /2 cup fresh blueberries. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes, to macerate the fruit.
Add fruit to an 8 ounce container of plain yogurt, and stir. Spoon into two servings.
Stir together 1 teaspoon of cinnamon per half cup of granulated sugar. Vary according to your preferences.
Spread butter on the hot toast, and sprinkle with the cinnamon mixture.
Whisk together 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1 /2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Add 1 /4 cup of milk, and combine well.
Dip the bread into the mixture, turning to coat both sides. Place in a hot pan to brown, turn, then slice and serve with syrup.
