DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - The City of Denison is adding more restrictions on where people can and can't go during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Denison Parks and Recreation will be closing public sports areas including volleyball and basketball courts.

The use of playground and recreation equipment is also restricted.

Denison Mayor Janet Gott went on Facebook Wednesday afternoon to let everyone know that while walking trails remain open, she encourages everyone to practice social distancing and follow the Stay Safe Stay Home ordinance.

"(Wednesday) we closed down basketball courts and volleyball courts because it's necessary to enforce social distancing. So it's better that they hear that from me, rather than figure it out on the streets," Gott said.

Gott said she will continue to do Facebook lives once a week during the pandemic to let the city know she is there for them during this time of uncertainty.
