Denison business owner pleads guilty to theft

DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - The former owner of a Denison flooring business pleaded guilty to theft Monday.

Melenie Barajas pleaded guilty to three counts of theft for scamming customers at her business, Apex Flooring.

Barajas was arrested in March 2018 after police said six victims claimed Barajas required them to pay up front for flooring and installation, but just kept their money, never providing the materials or work.

Barajas is required to pay $80,000 in restitution, and must pay $40,000 of it before her sentencing in October.

Barajas faces up to two years in jail.
